Achievements in 2013

  • The RepTrak study was extended from Finland to Sweden and Russia. Excellent results in Finland; strong ratings in Sweden and Russia.
  • Tax footprint reported for the first time.
  • First Communication on Progress (COP) issued in line with UN Global Compact initiative.
  • Issues management process developed in Group units.

2014 and onwards

  • Continue setting measurements for reputation management. Use RepTrak study results to develop the Group's operations.
  • Develop corporate responsibility reporting further.
  • Increase awareness of Fazer's ethical principles, their significance in business and Fazer's helpline.

Goals

  • Cut energy consumption by 20 % per tonne of products by 2020.
  • Increase the proportion of renewable energy to 70 % of total electricity consumption by 2017.
  • Improve environmental competence, measurement and monitoring of environmental loads in restaurants.

Achievements in 2013

  • Energy efficiency measures were carried out as planned in production units.
  • Fazer's environmental standard was defined to serve as a practical guideline for units.
  • Fazer's Baltic Sea programme was launched and the first actions were initiated.

2014 and onwards

  • Continue to improve energy efficiency.
  • Implement Fazer's environmental standard.
  • Promote the reduction of waste; improve monitoring and measuring.

 Responsible products and services

Goals

  • Increase responsibility in Fazer's offering and communicate progress clearly to consumers.
  • Raise visibility in responsible consumers’ everyday lives through consumer research and dialogue.

Achievements in 2013

  • Country-of-origin labels for meat and fish were introduced in Amica restaurants in Finland.
  • Responsible sourcing of fish continued.
  • Restaurants in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland increased their use of organic products.

2014 and onwards

  • Continue developing resposibility in Fazer's offering.
  • Develop consumer communications to facilitate responsible choices.
  • Increase the use of seasonal products in restaurants' offering.

 Stakeholder relations

Goals

  • Offer stakeholders opportunities to affect Fazer's responsibility work.
  • Support organisations selected according to sponsorship and co-operation strategy.

Achievements in 2013

  • Co-operation was started with the Baltic Sea Action Group.
  • A new school was opened in Biéby, the Ivoirian village which Fazer is sponsoring.

  • Carry out stakeholder analysis.
  • Continue co-operation with stakeholders and involve them more closely in responsibility work.

Goals

  • Respect employees and offer them an equal working community and safe working environment.
  • Make a diverse working community a strength and success factor for Fazer.

Achievements in 2013

  • Implementation of occupational safety standard started in all sites.
  • Occupational well-being strategy introduced to Group units and functions.
  • Value discussions were conducted throughout the Group.

2014 and onwards

  • Proceed with measures to continuously improve occupational safety.
  • Continue to implement the occupational well-being strategy.

 Responsible sourcing

Goals

  • Constantly improve level of responsibility in Fazer's supply chain.
  • Control and mitigate responsibility risks related to raw materials.
  • Set targets for each raw material category, control them and take corrective action.

Achievements in 2013

  • The share of cocoa produced in accordance to responsibility programmes grew to 40 %.
  • A grain vision was drafted to promote responsible cultivation.
  • Purchases of responsible palm oil were continued.

2014 and onwards

  • Check and update responsibility criteria for main raw materials.
  • Promote cultivation of domestic rye in Finland.
  • Develop criteria for responsible sourcing of meat.
