All the soy served as an ingredient in foods in Fazer Food Services’ restaurants is already certified. Indirectly, soy ends up on the plates through animal feed used in the production of meat, fish, dairy products and eggs.
Fazer’s commitment to 100% certified soy by 2020 covers all Fazer’s businesses. All the soy used directly or indirectly in the value chain will meet the requirements set by the RTRS (The Roundtable on Responsible Soy) or ProTerra. Fazer will report on the progress annually.
Globally around 70% of all soy is used in animal feed. Fazer uses soy as an ingredient in the food and indirectly through animal feed used in the production of meat, fish, dairy products and eggs. Unsustainable production of soy has been associated with environmental impacts, such as deforestation and biodiversity loss.
With the soy objective, Fazer joins the Finnish soy commitment.
