Thousands of refugees and asylum seekers have arrived in Northen Europe and it is impossible to predict the final number. Fazer has ongoing immediate actions and long-term aid planning to alleviate the refugee situation.

As an immediate measure, Fazer will increase food donations in Finland by launching deliveries to a new food waste storage in Vantaa. This central storage serves actors delivering food aid. Fazer will also continue donating food to long-term partners. . In addition, Fazer has made a donation to the Red Cross (Disaster Relief Fund / Asylum seekers)

Fazer wants to make sure that the help it offers is useful and, therefore, Fazer’s aid is planned in cooperation with experienced partner organisations.

Many cooperation initiatives in Fazer's partnership programme will have an impact on the refugee situation, either in the countries of origin or in the developing countries. Most refugees worldwide reside in developing countries where conditions are not much better than in their countries of origin. The above-mentioned initiatives will be continued according to plan. Among them are, for example, the Finnish Red Cross’ Chain Reaction challenge, the Nose Day campaign and the Women’s Bank’s “Walk a Profession for a Woman” event.
