Sustainability commitments and memberships


Businesses impact people, societies, and the planet. Fazer has made commitments that guide our sustainability work for creating a more inhabitable and healthier tomorrow, for people and the planet.

Since 2007, Fazer’s work has been guided by the Group’s Code of Conduct (previously ethical principles) derived from the ten international principles of the UN Global Compact (GC). Through Fazer’s Code of Conduct, the GC principles form the basic guidelines for responsible operations and framework for our ways of working. 


Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG), works to restore the good ecological balance of the Baltic Sea.

Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), drives ambitious climate action in the private sector by enabling companies to set science-based emissions reduction targets. The SBTi is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). 

UN Global Compact initiative, is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.

UN Sustainability Development Goals (UN SDGs), were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

Water stewardship commitment (Finland), Aalto University, the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of the Environment, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and WWF Finland have established the Finnish water stewardship commitment as a part of the social commitment to sustainable development in order to support the sustainability work related to water by companies.

UN Global Compact (Finland), is a corporate responsibility initiative launched by the UN in 2000. The UN Global Compact promotes and develops the ecological, social and economic responsibility of companies and communities, utilizing the ten principles of the UN Global Compact and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Hållbar Livsmedelskedja initiative (Sweden), brings together WWF Sweden and leading companies that take active responsibility for restructuring and contributing to a more sustainable food chain in Sweden.

World Wide Fund for Nature, WWF (Finland), non-governmental organization, that works in the field of wilderness preservation and the reduction of human impact on the environment.
