Better income for women in Nigeria

To develop societies, improving women’s ability to make money is essential. A good way to help them increase their income is by growing food crops. Fazer’s farmer programme in Nigeria supports women who want to learn how to cultivate and sell food.

The farmers’ program in Nigeria currently includes about 149 women farmers, and we have trained a larger group of women as part of community development to improve their incomes.

551 women from five cocoa growing communities participated in the soap making training we organized in 2017, 2018 and 2020. The women can make the products for their own use or sell them at local markets or other sales channels.

Moreover, we have arranged beekeeping training for 150 women and delivered tomato plants and cassava stems to support local food production in the communities.
