Supporting sustainable farming in Ecuador
Being the home to the Arriba cocoa used in the company’s flagship, Karl Fazer chocolate, Ecuador has a special place in the heart of all Fazerians. As many as 333 farmers in the programme from Los Rios and Esmeraldas regions are currently paid a premium for their sustainably farmed Arriba cocoa.
The programme offers training and other support to the farmers to reward the adoption of sustainable farming practices. For example, the distribution of Cacao Nacional seedlings to farmers, providing them with long-term support. the Thanks to the programme, all cocoa we ship from Ecuador is now traceable back to the individual farm.
